In addition to 35+ football, you can get started in walking football as a 55-plus. The game dimensions and tempo are adapted to the target group, so that even as an inexperienced footballer you can take the first steps in football and experience lifelong fun. Because there is no age on scoring!

However, Old Stars not only keeps you physically healthy as a person over 55, but it also ensures mental freshness. After all, in every form football is pre-eminently a 'decision-making' game where you have to make the right choices quickly. Constantly thinking, acting and reacting to the actions of fellow players and opponents. That way you train your body and mind. After all, walking football is also an ideal way to be or stay socially active. Comradeship keeps you young!

What is walking football?

The Deaf Devils Old Stars get the chance to continue practicing their favorite sport thanks to walking football. But what exactly is the difference between 'normal' football and walking football? The playing field is much smaller and there have been some changes to the regulations. For example, you are not allowed to walk with or without a ball and sliding is out of the question.

The speed is of course a lot lower, making the sport accessible to both ex-footballers and non-footballers. Due to the low threshold, every person over 55 finds a sporting challenge in walking football.

Info walking football

Walking football is a variant of mini football where the same rules apply, but adapted to the target group of seniors (55+). The most striking rule is that it is forbidden to walk (always touch the ground with one foot). The ball must not be played higher than the crossbar of the goals. Contact is out of the question and slidings are of course prohibited. All these rules are there to avoid injury.

It can be played both indoors and outdoors. A real competition does not exist (yet), but apparently discussions are in progress to start it up.

The Footbal + foundation of the Football Federation of Flanders has also launched walking football under the title 'Old Stars'. Their affiliated clubs also start walking football. A local collaboration between the football club, sports service and the walking football club is the ideal mix to successfully introduce walking football together and turn it into a strong project.
