More and more deaf people are starting to play sports, both within deaf sport and in a hearing competition. That is why this year the BDC Awards Trophy was organized for the first time by the Belgian Deaf Sports Committee, where the best athletes of the past year were awarded. A call was made in advance to submit applications for the various categories. There was so much reaction that it was very difficult for the jury to choose a winner. Among other things, the performance of the past year, the possibilities of the athletes or club, the commitment and perseverance were looked at. Ultimately, three nominees were chosen for each category. You can read an extensive report with interviews of the winners here. But more and more sports are also being practiced. Football, cycling and volleyball naturally remain popular, but sports such as mountain biking and adventure sports can also count on more and more members. After the opening speech by the chairman and words of thanks by Jan Van den Braembussche , the first prizes were awarded.
