BDC Awards Trophy
Awards Trophy - Regulations 2019
Regulations candidates BDC Awards (BELGIAN DEAF SPORT COMMITTEE).
1. In view of the great importance of sport in today's society and with the aim of encouraging sports practice within the BDC , the BDC decides to issue an “Awards” every year to:

Awards Trophy Men: Sportsman of the year

Awards Trophy Women: Sportswoman of the year
-
Awards Trophy Team: Sports Team of the Year
-
Awards Trophy U 21: Promise of the year (-21 years - born after 01.01.1998)
-
Awards Trophy Senior + 45: Sports Senior of the Year (+45 years - born before 01.01.1974)

Awards Trophy Lifetime: Trophy sports career

Awards Trophy Leader: Trophée sports leader of the year (*)
“Sports leader” includes all current candidates such as TD (Technical Director), member of a staff (coach, etc.), member of a sports committee, member of a club board, referee, etc. Provided that she / he sports year or earlier achieved an exceptional performance or made themselves exceptionally creditable for the sport. The Award is only awarded if these conditions are met.
2. To be eligible for the award of the BDC Awards, the candidate or candidate must:

Be sporting in an individual or team context;

are of Belgian nationality;
-
be a member of the BDC , the DSV or the LSFS except for the Awards Trophy Lifetime and U 21;

testifying to good behavior.
3 . The sports practiced must be recognized by the BDC and the ICSD
4. The BDC Awards will be presented each year during January (4th Saturday).
5. BDC provides trophies to be awarded to the laureate (s).
6. The Awards are awarded by a jury appointed by the BDC outside the board of the BDC . All members of the Jury are entitled to vote under the leadership of the jury chairman. This Jury can be assisted by advisers who are not entitled to vote.
7. The President of the Jury will collect all documentation and provide it to the members of the jury in order to allow them to express their views on the various applications submitted.
8. Applications must be submitted in writing and / or by video to the chairman of the jury before 15 December midnight each year by email to awards@deafsport.be . They must be accompanied by a note stating the career and special achievements of the candidates. A call for applications will be made public via newsflash from

the BDC and to the sports associations are sent at the beginning of November each year. The sports associations and educational institutions may propose one or more candidates. Individual applications are also admissible.
9. The preselection takes place in the period from 5 to 15 January by voting by circular or at a possible meeting addressed to the jury chairman.
10. At the pre-selection, the Jury can only validly deliberate if ¾ of the voting members answers. If at the first notice the Jury is not in number to vote validly, the members are invited to a second vote when writing; this can be validly decided regardless of the number of members present. The chairman of the jury will be assisted by the oldest member of the jury.
11. The Jury will make a pre-selection to comment on the admissibility of the nominations submitted. Only the candidates selected in the pre-selection are eligible to be awarded the Awards. Each Jury member has 1 vote. The vote is secret and half of the number of votes plus 1 is sufficient to award the Awards. In the event of a tie between two applications, a casting vote will be taken by simple majority.
12. Any final vote (max. 3 candidates) will take place under the same conditions as under points 9 and 10.
13. The members of the jury undertake to maintain complete secrecy with regard to the deliberations and votes.
14. The winner is expected to be absolutely present at the ceremony to receive the trophy. She will be contacted in advance by the jury chairman as well as the other possible finalists.
15. The laureates must be prepared to appear in front of the media and to answer interviews
